Kelita

Holman Bible Dictionary

(kih li' tuh) Personal name probably meaning, “crippled, dwarfed one,” but perhaps also meaning, “adopted one.” A Levite who assisted in interpreting the Law when it was read to the assembly of the people during the time of Ezra (Nehemiah 8:7 ) and who participated in the sealing of the covenant (Nehemiah 10:10 ). Kelita is perhaps a nickname for Kelaiah mentioned in Ezra 10:23 . There, Kelaiah (that is, the dwarf) gave up his foreign wife in accordance with the instructions of Ezra.
