Holman Bible Dictionary
Hebrew term perhaps meaning, “pashytry,” which the KJV took as a place name (Ezekiel 27:17 ). NAS, NIV readings (cakes, confection) are supported by an Akkadian cognate and the Targum. RSV follows variant manuscripts in reading “early figs.” REB, NRSV read “millet.” TEV reads, “wheat.” The Greek term chartes translated paper in 2 John 1:12 designates a sheet of papyrus.
