(Strong's #2562 — Noun Feminine — kalame — kal-am'-ay )

"a stalk of corn," denotes "straw" or "stubble;" in 1 Corinthians 3:12 , metaphorically of the effect of the most worthless form of unprofitable doctrine, in the lives and conduct of those in a church who are the subjects of such teaching; the teachings received and the persons who receive them are associated; the latter are "the doctrine exhibited in concrete form" (Lightfoot).
