Bonasoni, Giulio

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Bolognese painter and very eminent engraver, was born about 1498, and studied painting under Lorenzo Sabbatini, and engraving under Marc Antonio. He executed a number of pictures for the churches of Bologna, among which is a fine painting representing the Souls in Purgatory, in San Stefano. He died about 1570. The following is a list of some of his best works: The Creation of Eve; Adam and Eve; Adam Tilling the Earth and Eve Spinning; The Cup Found in Benjamin's Sack; The Miracle of the Manna. and Moses Striking the Rock.
