Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

an English Wesleyan minister, was born in 1787 in Cheshire. He was converted in 1807; became a local preacher in 1809; was received by the Conference in 1816; labored in Sierra Leone from 1816 to 1819; in Nevis and Antigua, W.I., from 1819 to 1823; and in England from 1823 to 1851, when failing health compelled him to retire from the full work. In 1858 he returned, as a supernumerary, to the scene of his early labors in Sierra Leone, where he spent three useful years. He died in Liverpool, England, October 5, 1861.
