an English minister of the Society of Friends, was born at Colchester about 1640. For thirty-five years he travelled and preached in many parts of England, Scotland, Holland, Germany, and the Low Countries. His life was one of much hardship. He died June 28, 1692. Among his writings, which are numerous, though none of them are long, may be mentioned, A Word of Reproof to the Teachers of the World, etc.: — A Description of the Church of Scotland: — An Epistle to Friends, concerning the Present and Succeeding Times: — A Plain Pathway Opened to the Simple Hearted: — An Alarm in the Borders of Spiritual Egypt.
