a French prelate, was born at Issoire, Auvergne, January 17, 1463; educated first in a Benedictine abbey, and finally under the direction Pf archbishop Boyer, who was his relative; was soon raised to civil office, including the presidency of Parliament, and eventually became chancellor under Francis I.
