Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
(כּוּשׁ, Isaiah 20:4; Jeremiah 46:9, כּוּשַׁי; Sept. Αἰθίοπες, Vulg. Ethiopia, Ethiopes), properly "Cush" or "Ethiopia" in two passages (Isaiah 20:4; Jeremiah 46:9); elsewhere "Cushites," or inhabitants of Ethiopia (2 Chronicles 12:3; 2 Chronicles 14:12 [11], 13 [12]; 16:8; 21:16; Daniel 11:43; Amos 9:7; Zephaniah 2:12).
