(Ι᾿εχονίας), a Graecized form of two Hebrew names occurring in the Apocrypha and N.T.
1. In Esther 11:4; Baruch 1:3; Baruch 1:9; Matthew 1:11-12, for king JEHOIAKIN (See JEHOIAKIN) (q.v.).
2. In 1 Esdras 8:92 for SHECHANIAH (See SHECHANIAH) (q.v.), who encouraged Ezra in the matter of divorcing the Gentile wives (Ezra 10:2).
