a Roman Catholic ecclesiastic of note, was born at Bologna in 1512, and was educated at the high-schools of Bologna and Padua. He was ambassador of Ferdinand at Bologna, and in 1539 became prince-bishop of Trent. In 1543 the bishopric of Brixen was added to his livings. Later he became cardinal.
