Thomas, David (4) A.B.

an English Congregational minister, was born at Merthyr-Tydvil, Aug. 16, 1811. He was educated at Highbury College and Glasgow University, where he took the first prize in logic. He was ordained in 1836, at Zion Chapel, Bedminster. In 1844 he settled at Highbury Chapel, Cotham, and commenced that career of spiritual power and ministerial prosperity, which lasted thirty years, growing more and more bright and beautiful from year to year. Mr. Thomas had a vigorous intellect, highly cultivated, and marked by large intelligence and the purest taste. "His conversation on books, public men, and human affairs manifested a comprehensive grasp, a discriminating touch, and no small amount of genial humor." He died Nov. 7, 1875. See (Lond.) Cong.
