2. the final movement in setting a dislocated or fractured limb, Gal. 18(2).332, al., Pall. in Hp.Fract. 12.273 C.; f.l. in Hp. Off. 19.

3. κατ' ἀπόθεσιν, of internal abscesses, Gal. 17(1).103.

1.putting aside, making away with, getting rid of, ῥύπου 1 Peter 3:21, 2.1.14.

Vocabulary of the Greek NT

BGU II. 606.5 (A.D. 306) πρὸς ἀ ]πόθεσιν ἀχύρου. Syll 420.16 (iv/A.D. init.) τῇ ἀποθέσει τῶν στεφάνων, the ceremony of resigning a priesthood, the inauguration to which was παράληψις τοῦ στεφάνου (so Ed.). Ἀπόθετος occurs in a petition P Oxy I. 71ii. 19 (A.D. 303), but unfortunately the passage is much mutilated. With the idea of 2 Peter 1:14 we might compare σῶ ]μ᾽ ἀποδυσάμενος in Kaibel 403.5 (iv/v A.D., but not Christian).
