1) the 1st born of Issachar and progenitor of the family of Tolaites
2) a man of Issachar, son of Puah and judge of Israel after Abimelech

תּוֹלָע m. תּוֹלֵעָה, תּוֹלַעַת f. pl. תּוֹלָעִים (from the root תָּלַע) [from יָלַע in Thes.].
(1) a worm, specially one which springs from putrefaction. Exodus 16:20; Isaiah 14:11, 66:24 those which devour plants, Jonah 4:7; Deuteronomy 28:39. Metaphorically used of a weak and despised man, Psalms 22:7; Job 25:6.
(2) especially scarlet, scarlet colour, more fully תּוֹלַעַת שָׁנִי (see שָׁנִי ), also scarlet garments, Lamentations 4:5; Isaiah 1:18 (compare תָּלַע Pu.).
(3) [Tola] pr.n.
(a) of the eldest son of Issachar, Genesis 46:13; 1 Chronicles 7:1.
