Thayer's Expanded Definition

ἔννυχος, ἔννυχον (νύξ), nightly, nocturnal (Homer, Pindar, Tragg.). Neuter adverbially, by night: Mark 1:35, where L T Tr WH have neuter plural ἔννυχα (cf. Winers Grammar, 463 (432); Buttmann, § 128, 2).

For this poetic adj. (but see 3 Maccabees 5:5 and Æsop. 110 ed. Halm), which is used adverbially in its only occurrence in the NT (Mark 1:35 ἔννυχα אBCD al.), Herwerden (Lex. s.v.) cites a metrical inscr. of v/A.D., IG VII. 584.5 ὅταν σε λάβῃ ἔννυχος ἠώς.
