Rh. 1381b16, EN 1155a35; κεραμέως πλοῦτος and κεραμεὺς ἅνθρωπος, prov., of anything frail and uncertain, Diogenian. 5.97, 98.

κεραμεύς is found passim in the papyri, e.g. P Tebt I. 120.1 (accounts— B.C. 97 or 64) τῶι κεραμῖ εἰς τι ̣(μὴν) πίσσης (";pitch";) ἀργυ (ρίου) (δραχμαὶ) ι ̄β ̄, ib. II. 414 verso (ii/A.D.) ἀπό [δο ]ς Θεναπύνχι τῇ γυναικὶ τοῦ κεραμέως, and P Oxy XII. 1497.9 (c. A.D.279) ὑπὸ Θέωνος κεραμέως. In P Lond 113. 8(b).3 (vii/A.D.) (= I. p. 220) we hear of κεραμουργοί.
