2. assuagement, abatement of, καμάτων S. El. 130 (lyr.); πυρσῶν of the fires of love, Theoc. 23.7; ἐλπὶς κινδύνῳ π. οὖσα Th. 5.103; παραμύθια ποιήσασθαι τῆς ὁδοῦ Pl.
