Psalms 98:4-102:7

Chapter 98

4 Shout for joy(m) to the Lord , all the earth,
     burst into jubilant song with music;
5 make music to the Lord with the harp,(n)
     with the harp and the sound of singing,(o)
6 with trumpets(p) and the blast of the ram's horn(q)
     shout for joy(r) before the Lord , the King.(s)

7 Let the sea(t) resound, and everything in it,
     the world, and all who live in it.(u)
8 Let the rivers clap their hands,(v)
     let the mountains(w) sing together for joy;
9 let them sing before the Lord ,
     for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
     and the peoples with equity.(x)

Chapter 99

Psalm 99

1 The Lord reigns,(a)
     let the nations tremble;(b)
he sits enthroned(c) between the cherubim,(d)
     let the earth shake.
2 Great is the Lord (e) in Zion;(f)
     he is exalted(g) over all the nations.
3 Let them praise(h) your great and awesome name(i)
     he is holy.(j)

4 The King(k) is mighty, he loves justice(l)
     you have established equity;(m)
in Jacob you have done
     what is just and right.(n)
5 Exalt(o) the Lord our God
     and worship at his footstool;
     he is holy.

6 Moses(p) and Aaron(q) were among his priests,
     Samuel(r) was among those who called on his name;
they called on the Lord
     and he answered(s) them.
7 He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud;(t)
     they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them.

8  Lord our God,
     you answered them;
you were to Israel a forgiving God,(u)
     though you punished(v) their misdeeds.[a]
9 Exalt the Lord our God
     and worship at his holy mountain,
     for the Lord our God is holy.

Chapter 100

Psalm 100

A psalm. For giving grateful praise.

1 Shout for joy(a) to the Lord , all the earth.
2       Worship the Lord (b) with gladness;
     come before him(c) with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.(d)
     It is he who made us,(e) and we are his[a];
     we are his people,(f) the sheep of his pasture.(g)

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving(h)
     and his courts(i) with praise;
     give thanks to him and praise his name.(j)
5 For the Lord is good(k) and his love endures forever;(l)
     his faithfulness(m) continues through all generations.

Chapter 101

Psalm 101

Of David. A psalm.

1 I will sing of your love(a) and justice;
     to you, Lord , I will sing praise.
2 I will be careful to lead a blameless life(b)
     when will you come to me?

I will conduct the affairs(c) of my house
     with a blameless heart.
3 I will not look with approval
     on anything that is vile.(d)

I hate what faithless people do;(e)
     I will have no part in it.
4 The perverse of heart(f) shall be far from me;
     I will have nothing to do with what is evil.

5 Whoever slanders their neighbor(g) in secret,
     I will put to silence;
whoever has haughty eyes(h) and a proud heart,
     I will not tolerate.

6 My eyes will be on the faithful in the land,
     that they may dwell with me;
the one whose walk is blameless(i)
     will minister to me.

7 No one who practices deceit
     will dwell in my house;
no one who speaks falsely
     will stand in my presence.

8 Every morning(j) I will put to silence
     all the wicked(k) in the land;
I will cut off every evildoer(l)
     from the city of the Lord .(m)

Chapter 102

Psalm 102[a]

A prayer of an afflicted person who has grown weak and pours out a lament before the Lord .

1 Hear my prayer,(a) Lord ;
     let my cry for help(b) come to you.
2 Do not hide your face(c) from me
     when I am in distress.
Turn your ear(d) to me;
     when I call, answer me quickly.

3 For my days vanish like smoke;(e)
     my bones(f) burn like glowing embers.
4 My heart is blighted and withered like grass;(g)
     I forget to eat my food.(h)
5 In my distress I groan aloud(i)
     and am reduced to skin and bones.
6 I am like a desert owl,(j)
     like an owl among the ruins.
7 I lie awake;(k) I have become
     like a bird alone(l) on a roof. <
