Devotional: 30th of Nisan

It is a narrow gate and a hard road that leads to life, and only a few find it (Matthew 7:14).

Robert Frost wrote beautiful poetry. In one of his best-known and best-loved poems "The Road Not Taken," he wrote,

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth;

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

There are two paths. We could take the beaten path. We could broaden out our doctrine and attract more people. We could embrace replacement theology or downplay the deity of Yeshua. We could compromise in order to multiply our congregational attendance and finances. We could justify it, saying that it will help us expand our outreach and improve our programs. We could, but we won't.

Our path is an unpopular one. Yeshua was not popular. Neither will we be if we follow him. We have chosen the path that leads to ostracism, persecution and tribulation. Yet, we are called to be unspotted in the world. By taking the narrow path—the road less traveled — we will not feel comfortable. But it will make all the eternal difference.

...travel the road less traveled, the one Yeshua would take.
