Charles Buck Theological Dictionary

A name given in the sixteenth century to the moderate Lutherans who adhered to the sentiments of Melancthon; and afterwards to those who subscribed the interim of Charles V. (

See INTERIM.) The word is of Greek origin and signifies indifference or lukewarmness.
