Prudence (False): Its Mischief

Spurgeon's Illustration Collection

James the First once said of armour, that 'it was an excellent invention, for it not only saved the life of the wearer, but it hindered him from doing harm to anybody else.' Equally destructive to all usefulness is that excessive prudence upon which some professor pride themselves; not only do they escape all persecution, but they are never able to strike a blow, much less fight a battle for the Lord Jesus.
