Holman Bible Dictionary
(boh' az) Personal name perhaps meaning, “lively.” 1. Hero of Book of Ruth, a wealthy relative of Naomi's husband. See Matthew 1:5; Luke 3:32 ). 2. The left or north pillar Solomon set up in the Temple (1 Kings 7:21 ). The function of the pillars is not known. See Jachin .
