Cinnamon
Holman Bible Dictionary
A spice used in making fragrant oils. Such oil was used to anoint the wilderness tent of meeting (Exodus 30:23 ). It was part of the lucrative international spice trade (Revelation 18:13 ). Compare Proverbs 7:17; Song of Song of Solomon 4:14 . Cinnamon comes from the bark of a large tree belonging to the laurel family. Both the English and Greek words are derived from the Hebrew qinnamon. See Spices .
