Closet
Holman Bible Dictionary
A private room in a dwelling where Jesus encouraged people to pray (Matthew 6:6 ). He also noted that not even words said in the inner room privacy could be kept secret (Luke 12:3 ), indicating the Pharisees' hypocrisy could not be hidden. A biblical closet is an actual room, not a storage place. See Architecture; Chamber.
