Day of Christ
Holman Bible Dictionary
An alternate name for the Day of the Lord (2 Thessalonians 2:2 ) when Christ will come and gather the church to Himself. That day is a day of revelation, both of Christ (1 Corinthians 1:7 ) and of believers (Matthew 7:22 “that day”). That day marks the completion of God's work in believers ( Philippians 1:6 ). Paul repeatedly stressed the need for moral purity in preparation for that day of judgment (1 Corinthians 1:8; Philippians 1:10 ). Paul spoke of the products of his mission work as his reason for boasting on that day (1 Corinthians 3:13 ). According to 2 Peter 3:10 that day will be unexpected and will be accompanied by signs in the world of nature. Some interpreters distinguish the Day of Christ as concerning the judgment of the church from the Day of the Lord as following the rapture and concerning judgment on earth. See Day of the Lord , Judgment Day .
