Discharge
Holman Bible Dictionary
Modern translation term for bodily excretion which rendered one ceremonially unclean (Leviticus 15:2-25 : Numbers 5:2; KJV, issue.) The nature of the discharge of males (Leviticus 15:2-25 ) is unclear. Suggestions include hemorrhoids, spermatorrhea, that is, the involuntary release of sperm due to a weakening of the sexual organs, or a discharge related to an inflamation of the urinary tract. In the case of women, the discharge is the monthly period (Leviticus 15:19 ) or bleeding outside this period (Leviticus 15:25 ). A discharge rendered unclean the person and anything or anyone coming into contact with the source of uncleanness.
