East Country
Holman Bible Dictionary
A designation for territories lying in the direction of the rising sun. At Genesis 25:6 the reference signifies desert lands more than direction. At 1 Kings 4:30 the wisdom of the East, either of Mesopotamia or of the desert dwelling Arabs, together with the wisdom of Egypt signifies all wisdom. The East Country of Ezekiel 47:8 lies in the direction of the Dead Sea. The East Country and West Country of Zechariah 8:7 refer to the whole world.
