Ebed-Melech
Holman Bible Dictionary
(ee' behd-mee' lehch) Personal name meaning, “servant of the king.” An Ethiopian eunuch in the service of King Zedekiah of Judah (Jeremiah 38:7 ). When Jeremiah was imprisoned in a cistern used as a dungeon, Ebed-melech was responsible for the prophet's rescue. As a result of his faith in the Lord, he received the promise recorded in Jeremiah 39:15-18 .
