Hail (Meterological)
Holman Bible Dictionary
Precipitation in the form of small balls consisting of layers of ice and compact snow, regarded as a plague by biblical writers. Hailstones generally have a diameter of half an inch to one inch. Large hailstones can destroy crops (Exodus 9:25 ,Exodus 9:25,9:31; Psalm 78:47; Haggai 2:17; Revelation 8:7 ) and kill livestock and persons caught in the open (Exodus 9:19 ,Exodus 9:19,9:25; Joshua 10:11; Psalm 78:48 ). The Bible speaks of hail to speak of divine presence, action, and punishment.
