Holman Bible Dictionary
(hay' lak) Place name meaning, “barren” or “naked.” Mountain marking southern extent of Joshua's conquests (Joshua 11:17; Joshua 12:7 ). It is identified with jebel Halak, about 40 miles southwest of the Dead Sea in Edom.
