Idumea

Holman Bible Dictionary

(ihd yoo mee' uh) In Isaiah 34:5 , a nation destined for judgment. “Idumea” is the term used in the Greek version of the Old Testament and in the writings of the Jewish historian Josephus for Edom. The region was southeast of the Dead Sea. The Herods came originally from Idumea. Crowds from Idumea followed Jesus early in His ministry (Mark 3:8 ). See Edom .
