Inspection Gate
Holman Bible Dictionary
A Jerusalem city gate (Nehemiah 3:31 NAS, NIV). The KJV refers to the gate as the Miphkad Gate. The Hebrew word is related to that of Jeremiah 52:11 , so some interpreters read, “prison tower” here. Others translate it as Muster Gate (NRSV, REB) and see it as a place where people drafted or conscripted into military service gathered. Some identify it with the Benjamin Gate. See Benjamin Gate .
