Jaakan
Holman Bible Dictionary
(jay' uh kan) Personal name meaning, “to be fast.” Descendant of Esau and thus tribal ancestor of Edomites (1 Chronicles 1:42; compare Genesis 36:27; Numbers 33:31-32; Deuteronomy 10:6 ). Different translations transliterate the name differently—Akan, Jakan. The Hebrew text of Genesis 36:27 omits the first letter of the name. See Bene-ja-jaakan.
