Jetur
Holman Bible Dictionary
(jee' tuhr) Personal name perhaps meaning, “he set in courses or layers.” A son of Ishmael and thus original ancestor of Arabian tribe or clan (Genesis 25:15 ). The clan was a part of the Hagerites, probably descendants of Hagar (1 Chronicles 5:19 ), who fought the East Jordan tribes. See Hagrites. Israel's victory illustrated the conviction that trust in God brought victory in war. See Ituraea .
