Jiphtah
Holman Bible Dictionary
(jihf' tuh) Place name meaning, “he opened or broke up.” City in tribal territory of Judah (Joshua 15:43 ). It may have been located at modern Terqumiyeh halfway between Hebron and Beit Jibrin. Most modern translations transliterate as “Iphtah.” The personal name Jephthah has the same Hebrew spelling. See Jephthah .
