Jotbathah

Holman Bible Dictionary

(jaht' buh thuh) Place name meaning, “good.” Wilderness camping station the second stop before Ezion Geber for Israel in the wilderness (Numbers 33:33 ). The context of Deuteronomy 10:7 indicates that at Jotbathah God set apart the Levites to carry the Ark of the Covenant and to do priestly service, though many interpreters would connect the address of Deuteronomy 10:8-9 to Deuteronomy 10:1 , seeing the travel report in Deuteronomy 10:6-7 as a historical parenthesis and not as the precise setting for Deuteronomy 10:8 . See Ezion Geber; Jotbah .
