Holman Bible Dictionary

(man' uh hath) Place or personal name meaning “resting place” or “settlement.” 1. Ancestor of the Horite subclan of Edomites (Genesis 36:23; 1 Chronicles 1:40 ). 2 . Site, probably outside of Palestine, to which some Benjaminites from Geba were exiled (1 Chronicles 8:6 ). 3 . City of tribal territory of Judah according to earliest Greek text of Joshua 15:59 , there called Manocho, probably el-Malcha in the hill country of Judah three miles southwest of Jerusalem. The site is perhaps the same as Nohah (“resting place”) associated with Benjaminites in Judges 20:43 . See 1 Chronicles 2:54 .
