Holman Bible Dictionary
A handwritten copy of a text. Before the invention of the printing press in the fourteen hundreds, all books were handwritten. Large numbers of New Testament and some Old Testament manuscripts survive from the first few centuries B.C. until the fifteen hundreds. See Bible, Text and Versions; Paper; Papyrus; Writing .
