Holman Bible Dictionary
(mih ray' iahth) Personal name meaning, “obstinate” or “rebellious.” 1. Ancestor of the Zadokite high priests (1Chronicles 6:6-7,1 Chronicles 6:52 ). 2 . Ancestor of Ezra the scribe, perhaps identical with 1. (Ezra 7:3; 1 Chronicles 9:11; Nehemiah 11:11 ). 3 . Priestly family in the postexilic period (Nehemiah 12:15 ), perhaps a scribal corruption of Meremoth (Nehemiah 12:3 ).
