Merathaim
Holman Bible Dictionary
(mehr uh thay' ihm) Place name meaning, “double bitterness” or “double rebellion,” possibly a play on the Akkadian phrase mat marrati (“Land of the Bitter River”) or on nar marratu , a designation for the area touching the Persian gulf known from Babylonian inscriptions. Jeremiah (Jeremiah 50:21 ) announced God's judgment on the land.
