Holman Bible Dictionary
(mihj' uh mihn) Contracted form of the personal name Miniamin, meaning, “lucky” (literally, “from the right hand”). The name is attested in Neo-Babylonian and Persian business documents. 1. Priest in David's time (1 Chronicles 24:9 ). 2 . Priest who returned from Exile with Zerubbabel (Nehemiah 12:5 ). 3 . Priest witnessing Ezra's covenant renewal (Nehemiah 10:7 ). 4 . Layman with a foreign wife (Ezra 10:25 ). The KJV form of 2. and 4. is Miamin.
