Pan
Holman Bible Dictionary
A shallow, metal cooking utensil. Pans were used for baking bread for family use (2 Samuel 13:9 ) or as an offering (Leviticus 2:5; Leviticus 6:21; 1 Chronicles 23:29 ). Deeper pans were used for boiling meat (1 Samuel 2:14 ). NAS used pans to refer to dishes for incense (Numbers 7:14 ,Numbers 7:14,7:20 ,Numbers 7:20,7:26 ). NIV mentioned silver pans among Cyrus' gifts for rebuilding the Jerusalem Temple (Ezra 1:9 ). In the KJV, an iron pan (NRSV plate) serves as symbol of the coming seige of Jerusalem (Ezekiel 4:3 ).
