Perizzites
Holman Bible Dictionary
(pehr' ihz zite) A group name meaning, “rustic.” One of the groups of people who opposed the Israelite occupation of Canaan (Joshua 9:1-2 ). They dwelled in the land as early as Abraham's time (Genesis 13:7 ). The name implies that the Perizzites probably dwelled in the open country while the Canaanites walled up their encampments.
