Pirathon, Pirathonite

Holman Bible Dictionary

(pi ray' thahn. pi ray' thahn ite) Place name meaning, “princely” or “height, summit” and its inhabitants. The town in the hill country of Ephraim was the home of the judge Abdon (Judges 12:13 ,Judges 12:13,12:15 ) and of Benaiah, one of David's elite warriors (2 Samuel 23:30; 1 Chronicles 11:31 ). The site is identified with Far'ata about five miles southwest of Shechem.
