Pottage
Holman Bible Dictionary
A thick soup usually made from lentils and vegetables, and spiced with various herbs. Jacob served pottage and bread to the famished Esau in return for the birthright (Genesis 25:29-34 ). Elisha added meal to a tainted recipe of pottage at Gilgal (2 Kings 4:38-41 ).
