Recorder
Holman Bible Dictionary
Government post with unidentified responsibilities (as in 2 Samuel 8:16; 2 Samuel 20:24 ). The REB identified the recorder as the secretary of state. The TEV identified the recorder as the official in charge of [court] records. The term possibly refers to a court herald. Most translations use recorder, thus leaving the function open.
