Royal City
Holman Bible Dictionary
City having a monarchical government. Gibeon (Joshua 10:2 ) was compared in size and strength to cities with kings, such as Ai and Jericho. Gath (1 Samuel 27:5 ) was one of five Philistine cities ruled by kings or lords. Rabbah (2 Samuel 12:26 ) served as capital of the Ammonite kingdom.
