Samothrace
Holman Bible Dictionary
(ssam oh thrayce') Place name perhaps meaning, “height of Thrace.” Mountainous island in northern Aegean Sea thirty-eight miles south of coast of Thrace with peaks rising 5,000 feet above sea level. Paul spent a night there on his second missionary journey as he headed to Philippi (Acts 16:11 ). A famous mystery cult was practiced there.
