Sepphoris
Holman Bible Dictionary
(ssee foh' rihss) Town in Galilee that served as the capital of that region during most of Jesus' lifetime. It was near Nazareth and sat on a high ridge. The town was fortified, but suffered a violent history. Although Sepphoris is not mentioned in the Bible, Jesus probably knew it well and walked its streets.
