Shealtiel
Holman Bible Dictionary
(sshih al' tih ehl) Personal name meaning, “I have asked of God.” Father of Zerubbabel, the governor of Jerusalem under the Persian regime following the Exile (Ezra 3:2 , Nehemiah 12:1; Haggai 1:1 ). 1 Chronicles 3:17 makes him Zerubbabel's uncle. This could involve the practice of Levirate marriage ( Deuteronomy 25:5-10 ). He was included in the genealogy of Christ (Matthew 1:12; Luke 3:27 ).
