Silk
Holman Bible Dictionary
Cloth made from thread that came from the Chinese silk worm. Very early China and India traded. India also traded with Mesopotamia. Some think that Solomon may have gotten silk from India. Some feel that the Hebrew word translated “silk” should rather be “fine linen” or “expensive material” (see Ezekiel 16:10; Proverbs 31:22 ), the Hebrew indicating something glistening white. Revelation 18:12 indicates that the rich in Babylon bought silk from merchants.
